Guest Blog: Why icelolly.com Support CHSF
As a key player in the holiday industry, we’re keen on using our position and respect within the market to help raise funds and awareness for a number of charitable organisations.
The tireless hard work and persistence of charities closer to home resonate highly with our team which is why we made the decision to dedicate all of our fundraising efforts towards one local cause back in 2015 for the very first time.
Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF), situated a mere 10-minute walk away from icelolly.com’s HQ at Leeds General Infirmary, were unanimously selected ahead of a handful of similarly impressive organisations.
We were left amazed by the unbelievable job they do supporting children and their families in their time of need.
Specialists in helping young people born with congenital heart defects, CHSF fund the purchase of vital equipment, research projects and staff training as well as offering unrivalled care and support to the children and their families.
Our team have rallied together over the last couple of years to show a collective gratitude towards what is certainly a more than worthy cause by arranging several fundraisings events such as cake sales, quizzes and cocktail afternoons – digging deep into their pockets on each occasion!
We love receiving regular updates on CHSF’s latest great work and some members of team icelolly.com have had the pleasure of witnessing first-hand exactly how the money raised has been spent and the positive impact of our efforts in a series of visits to the ward.
The charity organises an annual Christmas raffle which raises much-needed money to support patients and their families and we’re very pleased to be able to donate the star prize for a third year in succession!
It was a Legoland trip in 2015, Barcelona city break in 2016 and Xmas 2017 will see a holiday to Prague up for grabs.
icelolly.com Chief Executive, Andrew Latham, said:
In 2015, we made the choice to focus our charitable efforts towards the work of one exceptional local charity who do a sterling job helping and caring for those in need, and at a time when finding their perfect holiday through our site is the least of their considerations.
CHSF continues to do fantastic work and it’s great to see and hear about the positive influence our fundraising commitments are having on the excellent work they do.
