Keep the beat and fundraise at free event
Local DJ and percussionist Randolph Robinson is hosting a free fundraising music event for us on Thursday 2nd June.
All money made from raffles and donations at the gig at Vice & Virtue, New Briggate, Leeds, will come to the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund.
Aperol have kindly sponsored the event, meaning all proceeds from the popular Italian aperitif cocktail Aperol Spritz will also go directly to the CHSF.
The event will run from 6:30pm until midnight and features DJ sets from Randolph himself and Bliss Brown, plus a range of live music performances.
The live music schedule will feature the talents of saxophone player William Forrester, acoustic duo Amy and Dan, percussion from Randolph, singer-songwriter Janey H and solo guitarist Richard Martins.
Randolph told us his emotive reasons behind the event and choosing our charity as the focus:
It goes back to when my eldest boy was only 2 years old and had to go into hospital for some corrective surgery. He was in theatre for over 4 and a half hours and several litres of blood were given to him.
The surgeons corrected his problem and now he is a totally healthy 25 year old man. I promised myself, if ever I was in a position to help other people, then I would do so. That’s why I feel obliged to give something back, event if it’s only time.
I have been DJing for over 15 years, and I am also a self taught Live Percussionist. I have played in a wide variety of venues. My first love of music has got to be Funk and Soul, but can turn my DJing skills to any genre of music.
I am very lucky to do a job that I love so much and have met lots of talented people along the way.
Randolph also kindly performed for free at our Keeping the Beat launch party on 19th May.
If you’re available on Thursday 2nd June, please pop down and give your support, even if it’s just for an aperitif you’ll be keeping the beat in great company.
