In a break from the norm, we’re awarding Fundraiser of the Month to a business, rather than an individual. June’s award goes to Switalskis Solicitors! Read on to find out why!
Switalskis supported Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) in 2017 by taking part in a large range of exciting fundraising events.
The partnership has continued into 2018, culminating in the recent “Tour De Swits” – a gruelling 195-mile cycling event which saw a group of staff cycle to 10 of their 13 offices over 3 days.
The event was a huge success and raised over £10,000! There’s more detail on our blog here.
Switalskis Marketing Executive Summer Cummings explained why the business chose to fundraise for CHSF in the first place:
Switalskis Solicitors has 13 offices across Yorkshire so we wanted to partner with a charity that helps people across the whole of the Yorkshire region.
This was the most important factor for us, as we wanted staff at all of our offices to feel that their fundraising was directly benefitting their local communities.
Switalskis kicked off the partnership by visiting Ward 51 in June 2017 and meeting staff and patients alike, and since then they have dedicated their time and effort to fundraising activities, both large and small.
On a smaller scale, they introduced a monthly dress down day – Summer explained that when you have 250+ staff members it’s a great way to raise money steadily throughout the year.
Bigger activities have included a skydive, charity runs (including a marathon or two!), and a 10th-anniversary celebration raffle. Not to mention the “Tour De Swits”!
Summer had this advice for other fundraisers, especially those within a business:
We appreciate that our staff have a day job to do, but with careful planning we have been able to run lots of different activities at different points in the year without tiring everyone out!
It’s also important to really encourage any team members who are taking an active role in fundraising and give them support. This approach has enabled us to raise over £18,000 in less than a year.
We’re so thrilled to have benefitted from the commitment, enthusiasm and dedication of Switalskis, and feel very lucky to be associated with such an amazing group of people!
