As the world tentatively opens up, now is a good time to look at the importance of team building and boosting staff morale and motivation in the workplace.
The CHSF Team are returning to the office on a timetable approach later this month, to cover the activities, but just a few team members at any one time. We have had one team gathering where we all got together for a meal, which was wonderful!
With some new members of staff, some colleagues hadn’t met in person, so sharing an evening of food and conversation, was what we all needed to reconnect and give us all a much-needed boost.
The Benefits of Team Building
Team building is any action or method, which brings a group together and motivates them to work collaboratively. The purpose of any team-building exercise is to build a stronger unit of employees.
Team building has many benefits for businesses. It improves productivity, increases employee motivation, encourages collaboration and builds trust and respect among employees. Team building exercises should be held outside the office and give employees a reason to interact with each other in a non-work-related environment.
Building Trust
For teams to work together, they need to know they can trust each other, that they can fall back on each other if the need arises. Moreover, when you build trust among teams, they give each other space and autonomy to accomplish their tasks and make their own decisions.
Increase Engagement and Retention
Employees enjoy being part of something that is more than just a job, something fun to look forward to in the work environment. When businesses encourage their employees to have fun, employees naturally become more engaged and want to stay longer with the organisation. Charity partnerships are a great way to offer this to employees!
Team Building Activities
Team building activities are designed to develop stronger communication and collaboration, which help teams become more effective and efficient. There is a natural transition from traditional teambuilding activities to fundraising activities inside (or outside) the workplace.
This month we have had three corporate teams taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. A testing but popular challenge with our corporate partners, because it offers participants a goal to work towards in terms of some advanced training, gathering sponsorship, then a day walking in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park. Here are some of the recent teams from Gamma, Clarion Solicitors and Bailoran Solicitors, who all took part this month raising funds for CHSF.

Taking part in charitable giving is a worthy marketing tool for any business. It opens up networking opportunities, promotes an ethical reputation and increases presence within the community. But aside from the promotional aspect, the inclusion of charitable giving within the working environment is a useful means for building staff morale.
No matter your business type or environment, there is a charity event to suit any form of workplace. Whether it be a coffee and cake morning in the office or persuading a team to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks! The process of planning, effort and achievement brings people together to work towards a target unrelated to day-to-day business, and importantly for the benefit of others.
“Bailoran Solicitors have been working alongside the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) for a number of years now and are proud to be associated with them as a Corporate Partner and nominated charity.
The fantastic work they do to benefit the region’s children and families is truly inspiring. We genuinely feel part of the extended CHSF team and their fund raising and engagement is always done in a friendly, enthusiastic and professional manner.
No matter how large or small the fundraising idea, you know that every contribution is truly appreciated. In current times being able to be part of events and fundraising also means a lot to the office.
CHSF make a tangible and valuable difference to people’s lives and we can’t recommend working with their amazing team enough.”
