Tamra, mum to heart warrior Finley, asked for donations at Finley’s Christening as a way of giving back to CHSF…

“At seven months old, it was time to get Finley Christened. We wanted to put an extra special touch on his day by including Children’s Heart Surgery Fund in the Christening because as a family we owe them everything.”

“At only 16 days old Finley had open heart surgery at Leeds Children’s Hospital, as he was diagnosed with TAPVD. Carin Van Doorn and her team did an amazing job and within 11 days we were going home.”

Tamra chose to ask friends and family for donations to CHSF at Finley’s Christening

“Without the team at the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit Finley wouldn’t be here today. That’s why, whenever we can, we try and raise funds to give a little back and say a big thank you for what they have done for us; for the care and support they gave us; and for the continued support we receive even now.”

Tamra took along CHSF collection boxes to collect donations and displayed leaflets to explain a bit more about the charity. As well as this, she bought Katie Bear pin badges to give out to their guests on the day and Finley wore a CHSF heart pin badge on his Christening outfit.

Tamra even had her own CHSF balloons made, and Katie Bear made an appearance on Finley’s Christening cake!

Thanks to Tamra and the generosity of family and friends a wonderful £120.76 was raised in celebration of Finley. Thank you!

Asking for donations around a special occasion is a simple yet impactful way to raise funds for CHSF.

You could fundraise at a Christening like Tamra, or perhaps at a birthday party, heart day or wedding.

Whatever the occassion, your friends and family’s contributions will make a real difference to the lives of heart patients, their families, and the incredible Leeds Congenital Heart Unit.
