What? The Big Give #ChristmasChallenge is our Christmas campaign for this year and all donations you give NOW are doubled – but please hurry, the campaign doesn’t last long!

When? Tuesday 2nd December midday – Tuesday 9th December midday

Why? To fund parent accommodation for our families. Give NOW and double the impact for your donations, reducing worry for future mums and dads of children being treated at the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit.

This is why parent accommodation is so important…

Heart hero Alex was born with a right sided aortic arch and a small Ventricular Septal Defect. His dad Ollie told us:

When the team told us a room was available for us to use, we were so relieved and grateful to be able to stay close by – it allowed us some personal space, but we were close enough to be on hand quickly.

We knew we needed to rest ourselves, but the guilt of leaving Alex’s bedside was significantly reduced knowing we could get back to it in minutes.

Heart hero Victor Bear, from Keighley, had three open heart surgeries in his first year. His dad Luke told us:

The parent accommodation was a godsend, as it meant even when we were tired, we were only a short walk away. It was like a mini home-from-home when our world was turned upside down.

It meant we could take turns to sleep, and give us chance to wash our clothes and eat proper food rather then the cost of eating in the cafes or takeaways.

Last year we provided 2,555 nights of parent accommodation to 300 families in CHSF’s rooms on Brotherton Wing and at Eckersley House giving families vital respite, and saving countless hours of extra travel, cost and worry.

With your help, we can continue to do this!

FAQs about The Big Give with CHSF
What is the Big Give?
The Big Give is a UK-based charity that runs match funding campaigns, which allows donations to charities to be doubled by connecting them with funders. Through its online platform, it helps thousands of charities raise funds for a wide range of causes by securing match funding from philanthropists, foundations, and the public.
How does the BIg Give work in general?
The Big Give works by matching public donations with funds from pledgers and “Champions” (philanthropists, foundations, or companies) to double the value of each donation during specific fundraising campaigns.
Who are the pledgers and 'champions' for CHSF?
Our pledgers are Womble Bond Dickinson, Morley Glass, J9 Advisory and Irwin Mitchell and our charity champions are Reed Foundation. Together, they will match fund any donations YOU make up to £6,500 – meaning your fundraising will be doubled.
How do I take part?
Simply donate here, and any donations made up to £6,500 between midday Tuesday 2nd December and midday 9th December will be doubled by our charity champions.
Where is the money going?
Donations made to this campaign will go to parent accommodation funded by CHSF – both in our rooms at Brotherton Wing and through Eckersley House, run by the Sick Children’s Trust. We have supported Eckersley House for over 15 years with regular donations.
Can I still donate after midday on Tuesday 9th December?
You certainly can! But please just donate through our usual channels, as the donation will not be doubled after that time.
A huge thank you to our pledgers this year, who have made up our matched giving pot! Take a bow – Womble Bond Dickinson, Morley Glass, J9 Advisory and Irwin Mitchell and our charity champion Reed Foundation!
