Tamra and her best friend Rebecca organised a weekend of fundraising at Rebecca’s Mum’s pub, The Hyde Park in Norton. Tamra is mum to heart warrior, Finley.
Saturday was car boot day, and Sunday was FUN DAY!
On Sunday 20th August, Tamra and partner Josh organised a fundraiser for Children’s Heart Surgery Fund as their little boy, Finley, was born with TAPVD and needed urgent open heart surgery to save his life.
While being treated at the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit Finley, Tamra and Josh were looked after by CHSF – you can read Finley’s full story here.
Tamra said:
“I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported, donated and helped out at the Fundraiser. We were also overwhelmed with the amount of local businesses that donated vouchers and gifts for the Tombola, for such a good cause.”
Businesses that donated included: The Hyde Park Norton, Joy Photography, The North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Leeds Rhinos, Groovy Moos, Horsleys Florist, The Talbot Hotel, Abigail’s Nails, Escape 2 Hair Design, Captain Barnies, All In Bloom Florist, One of Each, Hoppers, Morrisons and The Royal Oak Pub and Kitchen.
“I really couldn’t have made it happen without our family and friends…I was lost for words at the end of the day after I found out how much we’d raised!”
The Hyde Park, Norton gave the Fundraiser a venue for free. Rebecca and Sue Rice took it in their stride to help Finley, Tamra and Josh organise the event. This included driving all the way to Leeds to pick up the wonderful Katie Bear and cooking hotdogs and hot beef sandwiches for guests on the day.

Tamra added
“I really couldn’t have made it happen without our family and friends. They made the event happen really. From setting up and running the Tombola, to sorting a DJ, to giving a speech when I was lost for words at the end of the day after I found out how much we’d raised!
“We were also very surprised at the amount of local companies that wanted to get involved in the charity event including Magical Party Surprise who did all our face paints, Popolo Ceramico that did pottery painting all afternoon, DJ Jules for the music, and a big thank you to Enchanting Entertainment who were amazing at keeping the kids partying like princesses all afternoon.
“Everyone was truly amazing, and we couldn’t have raised what we did without any of our supporters so thank you.”
Finley has now also got his date for his second surgery in Leeds, at the end of September so the family really do appreciate every penny raised for Children’s Heart Surgery Fund.
Community Fundraiser, Lauren said:
“I have loved getting to know Finley’s family since they first started fundraising in March this year. They fundraised at Finley’s Christening, and even had Katie Bear on his cake!
“Mum Tamra is so driven, and with the help of her family and friends, they held this amazing fun day at their local pub.
“We’re blown away with the amount raised – a total of £3,074 for CHSF. This will make a huge difference to all the patients and families that we support. Thank you.“
