We’re delighted that staff at Switalskis Solicitors have organised a 195-mile cycle challenge for Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) to mark their firm’s 25th anniversary.
The “Tour de Swits” cycle challenge started today (Wednesday 9th May) and will see 15 cyclists from six Switalskis Solicitors’ offices complete a three-day route.
The cycling team will visit the firm’s offices in Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Bradford, Leeds, Boston Spa, Knaresborough, York, Pontefract, Wakefield and Doncaster, before completing the course at the Sheffield office on Friday 11th May.
A key stopping point today was Millennium Square in Leeds today, where the team were met by Ben Andrews, CHSF’s Corporate Partnerships Manager, our mascot Katie Bear and a crowd of supporters.
The Switalskis team has already exceeded its £5k fundraising target and now has its sights on raising even more for CHSF. You can sponsor the event on their Just Giving page.
The challenge has been sponsored by Allianz Insurance, 7 Bedford Row and Nestor, allowing it to go ahead by providing accommodation, insurance, vehicles and jerseys.
Riding 50 miles a day on average, with two overnight stops, the cyclists set off from the Switalskis Huddersfield office today and finish at the Paradise Square office in Sheffield on Friday 11th May.
The Tour de Swits challenge is the brainchild of Sian Morris, legal executive at Switalskis, who is a keen cyclist and will be leading the team. Sian said:
The cyclists have been training extremely hard and are full of enthusiasm for the challenge ahead of us. Prior to the intensive training sessions, some of our cyclists hadn’t ridden more than 20 miles, which makes this all the more remarkable and means they will earn every penny of their sponsorship!
To mark our quarter century anniversary year in this way and to have already exceeded our target is something very special for all involved.
Switalskis has confirmed that the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund will be the firm’s chosen charity for a second year, and the team has challenged themselves to become the first corporate supporter to raise more than £20k for the charity in two years.
This is a fantastic challenge and it means a great deal to us that the Switalskis team are going to these great lengths to raise money to support the work we do.
It’s equally fantastic to hear that they will continue to support us for another year and have already exceeded such an ambitious fundraising target.
All the money they raise will go towards supporting children and families during their stay in hospital, and funding important research, new medical equipment and resources. We wish Switalskis the best of luck for this tremendous challenge.
