Top tips for JustGiving
So you are thinking of raising money for Children’s Heart Surgery Fund? Well, first of all, thank you very much! Your hard work really will help us make such a difference to the heart service across our region, our amazing heart warriors and their families. We can only do what we do because of awesome people like you!
If you are setting up a digital fundraising page via JustGiving, then we have a few top tips for you. Whether you are an experienced fundraiser or just starting out on your first sponsored activity, try some of these suggestions to make the most of your page.
GET TEXTING
JustGiving allows you to create a unique text code to share with friends and family who can then donate through a text message.
Visit JustGiving to create your own text code.
YOUR FIRST DONATION
Ask people close to you to make the first donation. People will look to see how much other people have sponsored you, and donate a similar amount.
TELL YOUR STORY
People will be much more interested in your fundraising if they know your story. Don’t be afraid to share your unique experience and the reasons behind choosing to fundraise.
ADD PICTURES
Did you know? Fundraisers who add photos raise up to 35% more than those who don’t!
SET A TARGET
People who set a target on their page raise up to 40% more than those who don’t.
If you are getting close to reaching your target, think about increasing it as supporters are less likely to donate if they think you have already reached your goal.
GET CORPORATE
Use every opportunity you have to advertise your page on work newsletters, magazines and your email signature.
Find out if you can get matched funding from your workplace. Some employers will even double your fundraising total!
USE SOCIAL MEDIA
Update your Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter pages with details of your fundraising and how people can donate.
Every share of your online page is worth an average of £5 in donations!
KEEP GOING
Around 20% of your donations will come in after you have completed your event so don’t forget to keep fundraising after you have crossed the finish line.
It’s a good opportunity to update your family and friends as people who haven’t sponsored you already might be persuaded when they see how much effort you put in!

EBAY FOR CHARITY
With eBay for Charity, you can support CHSF when you sell and buy items on ebay. Head over to the ebay for Charity site, search for ‘Children’s Heart Surgery Fund’ and start listing your wares! You can choose to donate anything from 10 – 100% of the selling price straight to CHSF!
