Corporate Partnerships Manager

Our Fundraising and Marketing team are the driving force behind our charity. We are 100% self-funded, and we successfully manage a diverse range of income streams to ensure we can deliver our help and support each year. Children’s Heart Surgery Fund are proud of our Corporate Partnerships, we invest in relationships to maximise opportunities for businesses to fundraise for us and get involved in our activities and events.
We are looking for an exceptional person who is a natural relationship builder to join CHSF as one of two full-time Corporate Partnership Managers. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for securing new business and seeing these partnerships through to co-deliver meaningful income generating projects that are enjoyable for teams as well as valuable for us.

Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) is a unique life-changing service driven and inspired by CHD patients in our region, working to enable affected children, adults and families to live their best lives.
As recently as 50 years ago, most children born with CHD died very young. Thanks to advances in treatment both locally and globally there are now more adults than children living with CHD and 90%+ infants survive to adulthood. Fundraising through businesses, individuals and trusts, CHSF provides life-saving medical equipment and a suite of services including family support, hospital accommodation and more, serving Yorkshire and Humber, North and North East Lincolnshire and North Derbyshire.
We are looking for our next Chair to drive CHSF’s mission and objectives, providing inclusive leadership and ensuring that colleagues collectively deliver on their duties and responsibilities for effective charity governance.
Location/time commitment: Leeds in-person meetings quarterly, with two strategy sessions per year. Subcommittee meetings are virtual. Approximately 1 day a month.
Salary: Unremunerated, all reasonable expenses covered.

As Fundraising Researcher you’ll be responsible for proactively researching potential funders including corporate foundations and community funds, charitable trusts and other organisations to support our ambitious fundraising team. Location/time commitment: Leeds in-person meetings quarterly, with two strategy sessions per year. Subcommittee meetings are virtual. Between 4 – 6 hours a month.
Salary: Unremunerated but with all reasonable expenses covered.

Events Fundraiser
As Events Fundraiser at CHSF you will be responsible for developing a professional fundraising relationship with our family supporters, individuals, and groups across the community of Yorkshire, The Humber, North East Lincolnshire and North Derbyshire. This includes supporting and retaining existing supporters and being proactive in developing new opportunities to increase funding. You will also be responsible for all aspects of creating and delivering the CHSF events calendar and stewarding the supporters taking part in our events.
You will raise awareness of the work of CHSF and highlight its fundraising initiatives as well as actively encouraging others to participate in CHSF events.

Do you have a passion for making a difference in the lives of others?
We are seeking a committed individual to join our current senior Family Support Worker to deliver first-class support to families of children living with congenital heart disease.
This part-time role will add value and assistance to our current service and ensure we can meet the needs of all families and their children treated in the Congenital heart unit at Leeds Children’s hospital.
You will play a vital role in the family’s hospital journey by offering support during times of high stress, promoting CHSF’s practical support package, as well as providing a listening ear while assisting the cardiac nurse specialists in delivering information and support.
To be considered for this role, you should have a proven track record in a people/family-facing role, demonstrate an understanding of how to promote positive outcomes for families and have excellent communication skills.
Family support experience will be an advantage. We seek individuals who can demonstrate an empathic and non-judgmental approach to others, and act as a trusting advocate for the families you build and maintain positive relations.
Hours of work:22.50 ( Days to be agreed)
Salary:£25,000 FTE

Have YOUR say on the future of Congenital Heart Disease research!
A national study has been launched to identify and prioritise the areas of future research in congenital heart disease that are most important to patients, their families, and healthcare professionals. SCTS are supporting this project to help ensure that all voices are heard. This is your chance to have your say – so we want to hear from you!
What questions would you like to see answered by research, relating to the diagnosis, treatment, or outcomes of congenital heart disease?

The survey also is available to download as a PDF in English, Welsh, Polish, Bengali, Urdu, Gujarati, or Hindi.
The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and with your help, the findings will be used to:

This study is funded by George Davies, the high street fashion entrepreneur behind brands such as Next, Per Una, and George at Asda, through a generous donation to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, as his granddaughter has previously undergone complex cardiac surgery.
The CHAMPION study has been commissioned by the NHS to develop new ways for measuring the quality of services for congenital heart disease services for both children and adults.
The purpose of the study is to try and measure what people living with CHD and their families think is most important to them. The CHAMPION study want to hear your views about your experience of CHD services.

What is the CHAMPION study?
At the moment, the NHS mainly monitors the quality of services for congenital heart disease (CHD) by checking and reporting on survival rates 30 days after surgery for CHD in children. Survival rates are really high and we know that there are many other things that reflect the quality of services.
The CHAMPION study has been commissioned by the NHS to develop new ways for measuring the quality of services for congenital heart disease services for both children and adults. This includes developing fair ways of measuring survival after surgery in adults and also developing ways of reporting longer term outcomes for people treated for CHD.
It is crucial to try to measure what people living with CHD and their families think is most important to them. In this online forum, the study hope to hear about your views on what should be measured and reported about the quality of CHD services.
Who is running the study?
Three charities (Little Hearts Matter, the Children’s Heart Federation (CHF) and the Somerville Foundation) are helping to run online forums to help understand patient and family perspectives as part of the study.
The research team are based at University College London with collaborators at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, University Hospitals Bristol, Leeds Teaching Hospital, Magdi Yacoub Institute, Barts Health NHS Trust, Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust and Newcastle University. LCHU Surgeon and CHSF Trustee Carin Van Doorn is part of the Research Team, with Leeds being a collaborator in the study.
How do I get involved?
There is a private discussion group on Facebook asking a series of questions over a few weeks about the quality of health services for congenital heart disease. They are interested to hear from young adults with CHD, or parents, siblings, relatives, or friends involved in the care of children with CHD.
If you would like to join the discussion forum you will need to have a Facebook account. When you request to join the discussion forum you will be asked to give some basic information about yourself (your age, sex, region and role e.g. patient, parent, relative, sibling, friend) to help understand better what people are telling the study. You will then be given access to the group and can begin posting in the discussion. There will be some specific questions posted for everyone to respond to but they would also be interested in just hearing any stories about your care that you would like to share.
The Facebook forum is private, voluntary, and you can choose to participate or leave at any time. Your experiences and comments will only be visible to other members of the group and the forum moderators. All names will be removed from discussion posts before being sent to the researchers, who will not have any access to any identifiable information about you (name, date of birth etc.).
