I hope everyone has been enjoying summer and a break away from school and work. It’s been so hot though this year, and it’s not comfortable for everyone, so please take care.
We brought some lighter summer-vibes during Wimbledon by serving an Afternoon Tea on the ward for families and staff this month. We also had a great day out at CATCH city farm in Leeds this month for our summer Youth Event. Our young people met some friendly Alpacas with some familiar names… Chewy, Gizmo, Onion and Spider!
Thanks so much to Chris from Speak & Serve for delivering a story-telling workshop with the team this month. Our Family Support offer is growing all the time and families are so much at the heart of everything we do. Facts and figures will only ever show part of the picture so developing the skills to bring stories to life to demonstrate the real difference CHSF makes is so important for us. The team have homework to do now in developing our personal stories to share with each other at our next team meeting. Maybe we’ll even share some of these with you! Thanks also to our corporate partner Forvis Mazars Leeds for hosting in their calm and bright meeting space for this session – with fantastic views of the city!
Thanks as well to our long time supporter, Dave Rhino, for hosting another fantastic darts evening to raise money for CHSF. This is always lots of fun and the crowd really showed their support again this year – amazing! A special thanks to honorary team member, Jason (aka Keely’s husband!), for volunteering to sell raffle tickets on the night.
We’re very much looking forward to Superhero Walk in a few weeks, we’ll see many of you there. (Still time to sign up if you haven’t already). Our new Chair of Trustees, Colin Clewes, will be joining us this time. Colin has been a trustee for many years and the charity is very close to Colin’s heart. He will bring his passion and energy in supporting the team and championing families. We’re very much looking forward to working with him!
Ruth
