Benefits of Community Fundraising

However you choose to do it, you’re making a difference.

Bring people together

Fundraising is a lovely way to get friends, family and local groups together – whether that’s over a cuppa or something a bit more creative.

Support someone like you

Congenital heart disease is more common than many people think, so there’s a good chance someone in your community is affected. Your support helps show they’re not alone.

Make a difference close to home

The money you raise goes towards supporting the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit – helping our local hospitals, children, young people and families when they need it most.

Do something good (and enjoy it!)

Community fundraising can be as simple or creative as you like – it’s about doing something positive together for CHSF and feeling good about the difference you’re making!

Ideas

Simple fundraising ideas, shared with others, can go a long way.

Organise a raffle

Gather donated prizes from local businesses or within your community and run a raffle at your club, group or gathering. It’s simple, fun and highly effective.

Plan a Quiz or Bingo Night

Plan an evening of fun and friendly competition at your local hall, pub or community space—perfect for bringing people together.

Host a coffee morning

Bring neighbours, friends or your local group together over tea, coffee and homemade treats to raise funds in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Bake sale or craft stall

Set up a stall at a local event, school fair or club meeting and sell homemade goodies, crafts or gifts to support CHSF.

More ideas

More simple ideas you can do to raise money for CHSF with the people you already spend time with

  • Sweepstakes or “guessing” games (e.g. guess the chocolates in a jar)
  • Car wash with friends or a local group
  • New Year or Bank Holiday clear-out sale (books, clothes, toys)
  • Book, toy or clothes swaps with optional donations
  • Garden open day or plant sale
  • Penalty shootout / mini challenges at your club or group
  • Games night at home (board games, cards, etc.)
  • Film night at home or in a community space
  • Dog walk meet-up with a small donation to join
  • Craft-making session (then sell what you make or donate to take part)
