Like many charities, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund has been navigating a challenging and uncertain environment for several years. During that time, we have worked hard to ensure that CHSF remains here for families and everyone affected by congenital heart disease, when they need us most – both now and for the future.
Over the past two years, I have worked closely with our Board of Trustees to make some difficult but necessary changes to secure the charity’s long-term sustainability. As a result, our team looks very different today. We have streamlined to a core team of ten dedicated and talented people, and I couldn’t be prouder of what they achieve.
Families will always be at the heart of everything we do at Children’s Heart Surgery Fund. It’s reflected in our very first value, Every Person, Every Family, and it remains our guiding principle. Next year alone, the team expects to support more than 400 families, as well as deliver events and activities that bring families and young people together across the region. These events include our regional Cardiac Cafes, Superhero Walk and the Christmas Party, which are always some of the best days of the year!
These changes also mean that the time has come for me to step away from Children’s Heart Surgery Fund. It has been a privilege to lead this remarkable charity, and I am delighted to hand over its leadership to Sarah and Amanda – two talented team members who care deeply about CHSF, our families and the difference we make.
Thank you for welcoming me into Children’s Heart Surgery Fund and for allowing me to be part of such a uniquely special charity. Although I am saying goodbye, I will continue to cheer on CHSF and look forward to seeing Family Support grow and develop in the years ahead.
Thank you for your support. We know that we can only do what we do because of you.
With very best wishes,
Ruth x
